Princesses Everywhere!

If you are the parent of a little girl, you have probably had the experience of heading over to the girls’ section of your local kids store and getting lost in a sea of pink princesswear. While boys’ sections are chalk full of superheroes, firefighters, and policemen, traditional girls’ clothing tends to be limiting.

A few newer brands in the marketplace are starting to notice that girls have strong interests too! And their clothing should not limit who they are.

Inspiration From A Future Astronaut

After searching in vain for an astronaut themed outfit for her space-obsessed daughter, Jaya Iyer cofounded Svaha Apparel to address this gap in the marketplace. Svaha focusses on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) themed clothing line for women and girls. The clothing line features everything from an adorable Javascript baby bodysuit, to a soccer printed dress set with leggings. The clothes are designed to inspire little girls to be confident that they can accomplish anything they want!

The Scientist Designer

Trucks in Tutus was founded by Yale educated clinical psychologist Katie Taylor. A mom of three, Katie, saw the opportunity to make beautiful girls clothing with strong, fanciful, and empowering graphics. At a recent lunch near her NYC home, Katie exclaimed, “What better way to tell girls they can do anything, than to put a truck in a tutu!” Trucks in tutus features dresses, tops, and skirts with various trucks in tutus!
